The predatory exploration of this precious resource is more and more combatida at national and international level. Some organization appear that help government and authorities to exigirem produces that respect the environment, creating certificates that set the rules of the exploration in forest and wood industries.

Below, major international certificates related to forest and wood trade:

n FSC - The selo verde (green stamp), as it is known in Brazil. This certificate is awarded by american NGO Forest Stewardship Council.

n Smartwood - Certification concedida by another american NGO, RainForest Alliance.

n BFU - German certificate.

n PEFC - From Pan European Forest Cetification, an european certificate that gathers several countries from Europe. It was created in Paris, in 1999.

In Brazil

In Brazil there are several workgroups and NGO that make pressure on the authorities to adopt these certifications and claim inspection of public authorities to the respect of international determinations and to struggle against predatory exploration and illegal forest produces and wood trade.
